Deepak Obhrai, M.P. and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, paid an official visit to Cambodia from February 3 to 6, 2013. Mr. Obhrai represented Canada at the Funeral ceremony of the late Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk. During his visit, Mr. Obhrai also met with survivors of the Cambodian Genocide, participated in a Land Title Distribution Ceremony and visited a CIDA-funded programme to support mine clearing activities throughout Cambodia.

Deepak with Mr. Chum Mey, one of a handful of survivors from the Tuol Sleng Detention Centre, now the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh. An estimated 17,000 to 30,000 people were detained, interrogated, tortured and murdered within its walls, or sent to the Choeung Euk Killing Fields on the outskirts of Phnom Penh to be executed.
